Communications Consultant

Salary: Circa £40,000

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the Legal, Regulatory & Mandatory (LRM) communications team within Nationwide's Customer, Brand & Engagement function.

The team is in charge of all LRM communications through various print and digital channels for all types of accounts within Nationwide. Your role will be crucial in transforming and developing our most important customer communications as we introduce our new, modern, and customer-centered brand.

Reporting to the LRM Communications Manager, you will utilize your expertise in communications to simplify complex business requirements, creating engaging and performance-driven customer communications and journeys.

At Nationwide, we embrace a hybrid working model whenever possible. Our hybrid approach fosters stronger relationships, bringing colleagues together across our UK offices while also offering flexibility for remote work. We value our time in the office for collaboration, problem-solving, and building connections.

For this role, you will be required to work at one of our offices at least two days per week, or 40% of the time if part-time. If selected, your hiring manager will provide further details on this arrangement.

If we receive a high volume of suitable applications, we may close the posting earlier than the stated date, so please submit your application promptly.

What you'll be responsible for:

Working closely with key stakeholders from various departments, you will manage communication briefs from conception to delivery. This includes collaborating with subject matter experts, analyzing business requirements, recommending and creating ideal customer communications, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

About you:

  • You have a strong interest in crafting insightful customer experiences that drive positive outcomes.
  • You possess experience in financial services communications and regulatory frameworks.
  • You demonstrate confidence and credibility in leading discussions and leveraging expertise from regulatory and product specialists to validate recommended solutions.
  • As a critical thinker, you excel at dissecting complex information to address customer and business objectives effectively.
  • You have a solid grasp of copy and design principles, enabling you to develop clear and engaging customer journeys and communications that meet customer needs and enhance brand experience.
  • You thrive on collaboration, ensuring seamless integration of designed journeys and communications across all channels and touchpoints.
  • With a growth mindset, you enjoy environments that promote change and continuous enhancement.

You also have:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and expectations independently, escalating issues as necessary.
  • A confident decision-maker who takes ownership of the quality of produced communications.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and a natural talent for building relationships that inspire trust among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in interpreting customer research and insights to drive continuous improvement and engagement.
  • An eye for detail and a commitment to quality, enabling you to identify errors and recommend corrective actions.

Our Customer First behaviors revolve around prioritizing customers and members in our collaborative efforts. You can enhance your application by showcasing how these behaviors align with your own values and experiences.

  • Say it straight: Communicate honestly and directly with good intentions, using clear and understandable language for customers and members.
  • Push for better: Strive for excellence and continuous improvement in serving customers and members.
  • Get it done: Prioritize impactful tasks, make decisive decisions, and take responsibility for end-to-end outcomes.

We understand that applying for jobs can sometimes feel overwhelming. Rest assured that each application is reviewed individually. Therefore, highlighting your relevant experience can increase your chances of consideration.

Additional benefits:

Upon joining Nationwide, you will have access to various employee benefits, including:

  • A personal pension scheme – with a generous employer contribution
  • Up to 2 days of paid volunteering annually
  • Life assurance coverage based on your salary
  • Various benefits through our salary sacrifice program
  • Gympass membership for health and wellness options
