The NHS Business Services Authority has a growing digital agenda and an opportunity has arisen for a Delivery Manager to join the Digital, Data and Technology Directorate to support its successful delivery.

You will work as part of a large, dynamic and vibrant department coordinating and managing multidisciplinary Delivery Team(s) to deliver products and services which meet the needs of our users. You will partner with the Service Manager and work under the direction of the Lead Delivery Manager.

What we're looking for...

As an Agile Delivery Manager you will be accountable for the effective, cross-functional delivery of products using agile/lean techniques.

You'll be expected to:


• manage multidisciplinary Delivery team(s) to achieve planned outcomes which deliver real value to our users

• empower the team to self-organise effectively to optimise their chances of success

• integrate efficiently with other (agile or non-agile) delivery teams

• be accountable for governance within the team

• set a good, sustainable delivery pace

• resolve conflict and encourage collaboration

• apply good agile delivery practice to plan, track progress and manage blockers and resources

• lead on financial management, scope management and stakeholder management

• help to dynamically organise delivery activities at a detailed level.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In this role, you are accountable for:

  • Provide leadership of multidisciplinary scrum team/s
  • Delivery of products in-line with project and sprint goals
  • Developing and maintaining motivated and self-organising teams
  • Delivery team inductions and kick-off
  • Facilitation of Ceremonies – daily stand-up, retrospective, sprint review, sprint planning and backlog refinement
  • Identify blockers and help the team overcome them
  • Management of Delivery Team worries / concerns and escalation, if appropriate
  • Ensuring budget is in place and on track
  • Tracking and reporting of progress
  • On-going review of resource requirements
  • Developing a proactive relationship with line manager and Programme Manager
  • Participation in Delivery Manager Community and sharing of learning
  • On-going learning, personal and professional development and the development of the Portfolio function as a whole

  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as agreed with your line manager and commensurate with your role
  • Demonstrate the business' values and behaviours in all aspects of your conduct at work

  • Be familiar with and adopt policies and practices governing finance, budgets and the procurement of services

Experience
  • Experience in a Delivery Manager or Scrum Master role or a Project Manager in an agile delivery environment.
  • Facilitation of agile ceremonies
  • Management and tracking of delivery finances
  • Tracking and reporting team progress.
  • Application of appropriate levels of governance to deliver teams.
  • Risk management and removal of blockers.
  • Experience in a Delivery Manager or Scrum Master Role within Government
  • Experience of working to and meeting Government Digital Service Standards
Qualifications
  • Degree or significant relevant experience working in an Agile delivery environment
  • An appropriate recognised Agile methodology qualification
  • Project Management qualification such as PRINCE 2, PMP
