Crynodeb

Llais ein tirluniau, hyrwyddwyr cadwraeth a’r rheiny sy’n caru popeth am yr awyr agored. Byddwch yn helpu i gadw cefn gwlad ac arfordir Prydain yn hardd. Gan weithio yn rhai o leoedd a mannau mwyaf godidog y wlad, waeth beth yw’r tywydd, bydd eich cariad tuag at yr awyr agored yn ysbrydoli eraill a byddwch yn ymdrechu i sicrhau bod tirluniau’n cael eu harddangos ar eu gorau ac yn parhau i syfrdanu ymwelwyr.

Mae'r gallu i gyfathrebu'n rhugl yn y Gymraeg yn hanfodol ar gyfer y swydd hon.

What it's like to work here

Day-to-day you will lead the National Trust Ranger footpath team, based at Craflwyn (near Beddgelert). Your primary focus will be on access and footpath maintenance in Eifionydd, Carneddau and Glyderau. This vacancy is fixed-term for 6 months, to back-fill a secondment.

Occasionally you'll be asked to help on the wider estate with practical tasks from fencing and dry-stone walling to tree planting and managing invasive species. You'll work closely with farm tenants, volunteers and the local community; the majority of whom are Welsh-speaking, so the ability to communicate effectively in Welsh is essential for this role.

There can be no doubt that the area you'll work in is stunning, but conditions in the mountains can be harsh. You’ll spend considerable time outdoors all year 'round, so you must be prepared for all types of weather, have good experience working outdoors, and be resilient and willing to adapt your plans to work with the weather of the day.

Sut brofiad yw gweithio yma

Byddwch yn arwain tîm llwybr cerdded Ceidwaid yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol o ddydd i ddydd yng Nghraflwyn (ger Beddgelert). Eich prif ffocws fydd mynediad a chynnal a chadw llwybrau cerdded yn Eifionydd, Carneddau a Glyderau. Mae’r swydd am gyfnod penodol o 6 mis, i lenwi secondiad.

Weithiau, bydd gofyn ichi helpu ar yr ystâd ehangach gyda thasgau ymarferol, o ffensio a chodi waliau cerrig i blannu coed a rheoli rhywogaethau ymledol. Byddwch yn gweithio'n agos â thenantiaid ffermydd, gwirfoddolwyr a'r gymuned leol; bydd y rhan fwyaf ohonynt yn siaradwyr Cymraeg, felly mae'r gallu i gyfathrebu'n effeithiol yn Gymraeg yn hanfodol ar gyfer y swydd hon.

Does dim amheuaeth y bydd yr ardal y byddwch yn gweithio ynddi yn odidog, ond gall yr amodau ar y mynyddoedd fod yn arw. Byddwch yn treulio cryn dipyn o amser yn yr awyr agored gydol y flwyddyn, felly mae’n rhaid i chi fod yn barod am bob math o dywydd, yn meddu ar brofiad da o weithio yn yr awyr agored, a bod yn wydn ac yn barod i addasu’ch cynlluniau er mwyn gweithio gyda’r tywydd ar y diwrnod.

What you'll be doing

Following the lead from the Property’s Business Plan you'll build and manage an effective and flexible work programme for you and your team, always ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and guidance.

Using your experience of footpath building and maintenance techniques you'll lead and train a small team of rangers, organise volunteer days and make the most of community engagement opportunities.

You'll have a clear understanding how your work contributes to the National Trust strategy to reduce carbon, reverse declines in biodiversity and ensure everyone is welcome. You'll ensure this is communicated to a broad audience through social media, TV/radio interviews, community talks, guided walks and public events.

Working with the Lead Rangers and the Countryside Manager you will plan new footpath projects, prepare specifications and apply for consent for works, consult with stakeholders and manage project budgets and contractors.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
