We are looking to recruit a Catering Team Member who is willing to cover for House keeping occasionally. Working between 25 and 37.5 hours per week.

You will need to show initiative and a passion for customer service.

What will you be doing as a Catering Team Member?

Our Catering Team Members take on a variety of customer-facing responsibilities throughout the hostel, ensuring a fantastic experience for all guests and visitors at YHA.

While this role primarily focuses on the catering aspects of our hostel, you may also be called upon to assist in other hostel departments. Here are some of the areas you might contribute to:

  • Ensuring strict adherence to food hygiene standards in food storage, preparation, and delivery.
  • Maintaining a strong commitment to health and safety regulations, ensuring timely and accurate completion of kitchen checks.
  • Taking pride in the preparation, presentation, and service of high-quality food.
  • Diligently recording food wastage in accordance with your hostel's procedures, with a focus on minimizing waste to maximize profit.
  • Serving food and drinks with warmth and hospitality, while engaging in authentic, inclusive conversations. Suggesting enjoying dinner with us or offering a beverage or dessert as you assist with table service, ensuring a diverse and welcoming experience for all guest

    What will you be doing as Housekeeping Team Member?

    Our team members cover a wide range of customer-facing duties throughout the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors so they have a great experience at YHA.

    This role concentrates predominantly on the cleaning of our hostel, but you may be asked to assist in other hostel departments. Here are some of the things you may be working on:

    • Cleaning and preparing bedrooms between the departure and arrival of guests
    • Cleaning all shower and toilet areas
    • Undertaking housekeeping tasks efficiently and effectively, ensuring levels of cleanliness are consistent throughout your hostel and taking a proactive approach to reviewing and maintaining standards
    • Complying with YHA requirements in the usage and storage of cleaning products
    • Reporting faults or damage to a member of the hostel management team.
    • Sorting and distribution of used and unused linen

What Skills and Experience are Valued in a Team Member?

While prior experience in a customer-facing role is advantageous, it's not a strict requirement for our Catering Team Members. Experience in hospitality or customer service is desirable but not essential.

Strong communication skills are an asset, and punctuality is of the essence.

We place great value on real-life experience, just as much as skills and knowledge. We provide a comprehensive induction, continuous training, and further development opportunities. While not mandatory, having experience in volunteering or collaborating with others is advantageous.
