Hours:          37.5hours per week, Monday to Friday

About therole

As an SEN Teacher, your dutieswill be to:

  • Teach to a highstandard and ensure all pupils access the knowledge relevant to thesubject area.

  • Liaise withother OFG schools to ensure development of the curriculumareas.

  • Develop the schemeof learning for the curriculum areas and have an oversight ofplanning across the pathways.

  • Monitor progress of pupils and put in placeinterventions where pupils are underachieving.

  • Maintain a development plan for the subjectareas.

  • Keep yourselfupdated of changes within the curriculumareas.

  • Deliver training todevelop staff on pedagogical developments related to subjectspecialism.

  • Liaise with theexams officer to ensure accurate entries are made forqualifications related to the subjects.

  • Teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensurethe effective delivery of the school’scurriculum.

Responsibilities 

  • Support the development andinnovation surrounding whole school curriculummapping.

  • Work with SLT toensure a differentiated curriculum is being delivered across theschool.

  • Support thedevelopment of learning styles and appropriate teaching approaches,behaviour management, classroom strategies, resources and wholeschool policies for pupils across all pathways.

  • Enable access to learningand social opportunities for pupils with SEN through the deliveryof teaching, support, families and students.

  • Support the SLT and therapy team in thecontinued successful development of supporting pupils with complexneeds.

  • Ensure consistencyof approaches in terms of T&L and assessment/feedback withineach pathway.

Essential

  • QTS or Equivalent

  • Experience of working in a specialist setting(highly desirable)

OptionsHigford is a special school set in 28 acres of beautiful Shropshirecountryside. We provide a high quality, holistic education for upto 60 autistic students who also have associated behavioural needs.Class groups have five students in with at least 1:1 staffing. Weprovide personalised curriculums for each student based on theirindividual needs and aim to support them to make progressacademically, socially, with skills for life, regulating theiremotions and accessing the community.
