Building Services Engineer

Hemel Hempstead FWC | Property and Facilities | Permanent contract | Full time

Up to £37,000.00 depending on experience

As a Building Services Engineer at our Hemel Hempstead Fitness and Wellbeing Centre, you'll hold an electrical qualification (to 17th edition or equivalent) and a good knowledge of Building Management systems. You also have experience of emergency lighting testing, PAT, water hygiene and other compliance areas in a large industrial unit.

As a Building Services Engineer, you will:

  • Be responsible for the whole site - from the building shell to surrounding grounds

  • Maintain everything from our swimming pools to our mechanical plant, air conditioning, heating and ventilation

  • Ensure all queries and issues are dealt with securely and effectively, using an electronic CAFM system

  • Inspire the team to strive for constant improvement, thanks to the way you lead by example

  • Use your hands-on experience and technical skills to operate an effective preventative maintenance programme

  • Improve your own skills and those of others to help build the strongest possible team around you

  • Assist in the completion of all monthly PPM jobs

  • Complete all Building Services daily/weekly checklists

  • Manage and complete all reactive calls within a realistic and reasonable timeframe

  • Understand COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations and guidelines

  • Assist with the ownership and management of all Health and Safety Management System folders

  • Carry out all Pool maintenance and complete regular pool/spa testing whilst on shift and complete fabric based tasks

  • Receive and take delivery of all pool chemicals in a safe manner and stored in the correct bunding

  • Maintain a positive, productive working relationship with all other staff

  • Assist the Operations Manager in the prioritisation of health & safety management in the Building Services area, ensuring policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work are in place

  • Ensure checking and inspection processes are completed as required and deviations are promptly actioned

  • Proactively flag any health and safety concerns to the General Manager and Nuffield Health Operations Manager

To be successful as a Building Services Engineer, you will:

  • Have previous experience working within a maintenance facility role

  • Have 3 Day ISRM Pool Plant room qualification

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Have the ability to multi task and prioritise

  • Pride yourself on excellent customer service and organisation skills

  • Be a team player, committed to providing a service ethos

  • Have a qualification in either electrical or HVAC

  • Have an IOSHH Qualification
