Planner / Senior Planner

Our client is a well-established, mid-sized planning consultancy based in Buckinghamshire. With a strong reputation for providing high-quality advice and a diverse range of planning services, they work across both public and private sectors, managing projects of varying sizes and complexities. As the business continues to grow and secure new projects, they are looking to expand their team and bring in a Planner or Senior Town Planner to contribute to their continued success.
Role Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Planner or Senior Town Planner to join a dynamic and supportive team. You will play a key role in providing planning consultancy services, managing projects from inception through to completion, and delivering high-quality advice to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a varied caseload of planning applications and appeals.
- Providing expert planning advice to clients, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
- Preparing and submitting planning applications, including technical reports, statements, and supporting documentation.
- Liaising with local authorities, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Attending client meetings, planning committees, and public consultations when required.
- Assisting with business development activities, including proposals and tender submissions.
- Supporting junior members of the team with their professional development.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Relevant degree qualification (RTPI accredited).
- At least 2 years’ experience (for Planner) or 4+ years’ experience (for Senior Town Planner) in a similar planning role, ideally within the consultancy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK planning law, policies, and procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in preparing planning applications and appeals.
- Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) (or working towards).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in the Buckinghamshire area or with local authorities in the region.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
