This world-famous 80-acre botanical garden with spectacular views across Snowdonia is a joy to be part of in every season. Bodnant’s large gardening staff work hard to maintain the much admired and inspiring plant collections, expansive lawns and colourful terraces, and there is a real family atmosphere within the long established group. The team welcome forward thinking and creative people with a collaborative approach, and love of the outdoors. You're likely to need your own transport to get here.

 

What you'll be doing

 

With responsibility for the identification and recording of the National Trust’s most significant collection of plants, you’ll be able to demonstrate your passion for living collections management as well as a deep interest in the care and cultivation of a wide variety of plants. Utilising the IrisBG plant records system, you will oversee surveys of Bodnant’s world renowned living collection, ultimately creating a full inventory of the myriad of plants which call Bodnant home. Working with the Head Gardener and the National Trust’s Horticultural Botanist, you’ll play your part in identifying species, assessing significance and ensuring propagation of plants under threat; securing Bodnant’s future as a garden of international importance.

 

Using your experience working in a similar public or botanical garden, you’ll work closely with the garden staff and volunteer teams to ensure that plants are correctly labelled and that information is made available to our visitors and partner organisations.

 

This role is key to Bodnant’s ambition to lead the National Trust in Living Collections Management and represents a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented applicant.
