Chemify is currently in the process of raising its second round of funding which will enable strengthening the technology, 10X the current capacity, and expanding the BD team in the US.

The Role

The Business Development (BD) team is primarily responsible for positioning the company in the marketplace, generating interest, and building a strong pipeline within the pharma/biotech sector, and eventually delivering on the sales and revenue goals of the company.

Additionally, the team plays the role of trusted voice of customer to the whole company and advisors to the executive team. It plays a pivotal role in identifying and developing opportunities to achieve Chemify's vision to expand access to new and better designed molecules and provide new and transformative capabilities to partners through portfolio expansion and growth worldwide. The Business Development Unit Director/Sr Director is responsible for identifying, generating new leads for Chemify, converting the leads to an active engagement followed by successful contract closure. The candidate must possess a hunter mindset, identify and connect with industry leaders/decision makers, and set up an audience for Chemify. Having a rolodex of network in the industry will be key to this role. Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with the SVP and head of Business Development and Sales to nurture the overall company's commercial and partnering strategy through market research, strategic briefs, thoughtful internal communications, outreach campaigns, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high performing role with the responsibility for lead generation, developing a healthy pipeline, achieving sales and revenue numbers for the company. Deeply understand the current technology capabilities and existing market challenges it can fulfill. Thoughtfully segment the market to maximize the value created using limited company bandwidth to help partners solve the most valuable problems uniquely addressed by Chemify's technology.
  • Develop and execute the Business Development strategy for the assigned territory by identifying new companies and decision makers, doing reach-outs using his/her own rolodex of contacts as well as identifying the professional network of Chemify leadership.
  • Set up and expand new Business Development approaches (outbound) with specific focus on the US market.
  • Ensure that Chemify is represented at international scientific conferences & tradeshows, Chemify events on-site & virtual (Webinars, consultant day, etc.) and Networking to build and strengthen the relationships with potential and existing clients.
  • Ensure the translation of partner needs from tailored proposals to a highly professional contract management (CDA, MSAs, Amendments, etc.).
  • Keep a close interface and excellent working relationship with the Senior Leadership Team as well as within the entire Chemify organization.

Requirements

  • Further training in business administration and/or marketing and sales is a must.
  • Extensive market and industry knowledge in the field of pharmaceutical development and CRO business.
  • MSc in a Life Science related discipline.
  • Minimum 6-7 years professional experience as a senior business development professional, ideally leading the function with broad expertise across inbound leads management, outbound leads generation, and Alliance Management.
  • A deal sheet including leading the negotiations and contracting of multiple >5M relationships with biotechs and pharma companies from the sell side.
  • A strong network of trusted peers and decision makers in the pharma and biotech sector.
  • Experienced in business development and sales for the US market.
  • Experience in client facing relationship management and lead management.
  • Demonstrated longevity with at least one company where the incumbent has built something.
