Embrace HR are working on behalf of their client to find a dedicated support worker/PA with a genuine caring profile and good sense of humour with the ability to learn and implement prescribed therapy to support our adult client.
Our client is very active and socialises frequently with friends. He regularly attends the gym, swimming, football, cycling and enjoys music events. You will be required to work alongside our client in a facilitative role, enabling his integration into the community, managing and supporting aspects of his daily life in accessing local facilities for social integration and therapy rehabilitation.
Working hours
Working days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday shifts based on one 24-hour shift on, one off
Working hours: combination of day shifts and sleep in shifts
Flexibility: to cover for shifts for other staff when they are off
Are you the right person for the job?
Essential:
- Enhanced DBS Certificate adult workforce (applications can be made through the client if required)
- Full clean UK drivers licence
- Punctuality, committed and dependable
- A calm temperament, trustworthy, reliable with a good sense of humour
- Ability to apply common sense
- A strong personality to compliment the client s needs
- Willing to attend gym, swimming and other sporting sessions/events
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Health and Social Care First Aid Certificate
- Flexibility to work occasional additional hours
What will your role look like?
- To support the client with daily activities in line with their care support plan, whilst helping them to develop and maintain skills to promote their independence and be an active participant in their community
- To establish a professional and caring working relationship with the client, listen to and respect their views, decisions and choices and facilitate them to participate in activities that improve their quality of life
- To facilitate the client in building and maintaining healthy relationships
- To communicate effectively and professionally with the client and all people involved in their wider circle, including family, friends, professionals and advocates
- To work as a member of the client s support team, working with them and other colleagues to ensure he receives the best possible care
- To follow the recommendations of the therapy team and promote engagement by the client
- To engage actively with other people involved in supporting the client and participate in the planning of care and rehabilitation support measures, routines, activities and compensatory strategies
- To work closely with other professionals during and after therapy sessions to help maximise the client s therapeutic outcomes
- To administer medication in accordance with professional and local guidelines
- To provide personal care for the client as and when required
- To accompany and support the client to attend appointments or other activities outside the home such as medical appointments and therapies
- To provide company to the client at home and in the community
- To support the client to actively participate in a busy social calendar, including sporting activities such as gym, swimming, cycling, football and socialising at leisure events such as music events
- To accompany the client on travel within the UK and abroad if the client were to holiday overseas.
General:
- To assist with general housekeeping, maintenance and upkeep of the client s home environment to include laundry, cleaning and shopping
- To be able to prepare, cook and serve meals to a good standard
- To maintain clear and accurate records of the client s care and progress, in accordance with record keeping guidelines
- To undertake any other related duties as required from time to time
