Group Finance Manager - Heartwood Collection

Group Finance Manager: The Role:

We are appointing a new role of Group Finance Manager to join the team. As a relatively small Finance team of 13 people, the cultural fit is extremely important. The role will report directly to the Financial Controller but will also have exposure to the senior management team across all functions.

This role will work closely with the Financial Controller and the wider management accounts team with a key focus on running the month-end close process, delivering monthly group management accounts and annual statutory financial statements, along with tracking spend on our site development projects. It will involve partnering with stakeholders across the business to ensure that we deliver accurate results with an appropriate level of challenge to the relevant budget holders.

We are looking for an academically strong, qualified accountant with 1-3 years of post-qualification experience and a friendly can-do attitude. Previous experience in hospitality would be advantageous. The job represents a fantastic opportunity to get experience in a consumer-facing business and to get exposure to private equity.

The role will be based at our Head Office in Teddington, Middlesex, conveniently located right next to the train station.

Group Finance Manager: Key Areas of Responsibility

Management Accounting

Work closely with the management accounts team to produce monthly site P&Ls.Attend monthly P&L meetings with the operations team, and liaise directly with site management to clear P&L queries.Work with the Financial Controller to produce monthly consolidated group management accounts, board and bank reporting.Help to manage key monthly balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliation processes and deposit accounting.

Fixed assets and projects

Track and report on capital expenditure across multiple developments, ensuring they align with project budgets and timelines.Liaise with project managers and property team to get a deep understanding of the individual project costings, and challenge where appropriate.Produce meaningful reporting and analysis for senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.Maintain and manage the fixed asset ledger, ensuring accurate capitalisation, depreciation, and disposal of assets.

Financial Reporting

Assist with building and maintaining key reporting from Sage Intacct to allow clear information sharing across the wider business. Including site P&Ls, board reporting and dashboards to track on key control areas.Financial statements and auditAssist the Financial Controller with producing the consolidated annual financial statements and financial statements for 10+ subsidiaries.Help liaise with the external auditors to successfully deliver the annual financial audit.

Other responsibilities

Assist the Financial Controller with designing and documenting key internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.Assist with statutory compliance responsibilities, for example, gender pay gap, national minimum wage and ESG reporting.Support ad-hoc financial reconciliations, analysis and projects as required.

Group Finance Manager: The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from an established university, with a strong academic record.ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent) qualification required.1-3 years post-qualification experience, preferably within industry.Proficiency in accounting software, in particular, experience with Sage Intacct is highly desirable.Strong Excel skills is key.A personable and friendly character who will be a team playerEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.Highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team to achieve resultsConfidence to work with senior stakeholders across the businessDetail-oriented with excellent analytical, quantitative and investigative skillsThe ability to work accurately is essential in the roleAbility to work with changing priorities and time pressuresA self-starter who takes a proactive approach

Company Overview

Heartwood Collection operates within the premium casual dining market in the UK. The Group comprises two award-winning formats: Brasserie Blanc, the French brasserie business inspired by Raymond Blanc and Heartwood Inns, a quality pub dining and rooms business.

The company was acquired by Alchemy Partners (a 1billion fund) in February 2022 and is on an exciting growth journey. The Group currently operates 38 sites and forecasts to quadruple profits via new site openings over the course of the plan - this will make the business one of the fastest growing UK hospitality groups. We are focusing on the pub side of the business and will also look at sites with rooms. The rooms concept is a new and exciting business venture for the Group and by the end of 2024 we will be operating in excess of 200 bedrooms.
