What you'll get to work on

Working within the Commercial Control Team, the successful candidate will support the commercial and contractual management of key Infrastructure Projects across the Capital Delivery portfolio. 

 

You will also

  • Ensure contract compliance, through effective contract management activities
  • Support the Project Delivery team in producing all necessary contract instructions and communications
  • Provide contract support, guidance and advice to the Project Delivery teams, to ensure compliance and contractor costs are robustly managed across the contract lots
  • Collate and report on costs, ensuring reviews and robust challenges of the Target and Actual costs submitted by the Contractors are carried out to deliver value for money
  • Attend construction sites regularly to review and monitor Contractor progress in order to verify their costs, compensation events and identify early warnings, via robust challenges. Assist and monitor appropriate risk mitigation methodologies
  • Provide detailed cost assurance reports (including Contractor and Client costs within the defined budget), demonstrating delivery of or out performance of the project baseline
  • Develop and present detailed commercial forecasting to internal key stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate Contractor cost data records
  • Ensure the review and robust challenges of contract data, tender costs, resources and programmes submitted by the Contractors are carried out to deliver value for money
  • Manage contingency through cost review and risk reduction meetings held with the Contractors and the Project Delivery team, ensuring compliance with the contract terms and conditions and deliver the desired cost outcome
  • Ensure commercial and financial processes (accruals and forecasting), governance requirements (such as change requests) and procedures are adhered to during the delivery phase
  • Line manage a small number of direct reports (1-3)
     
Who are we looking for
  • Degree or equivalent in a commercial discipline and relevant commercial management/contract experience or equivalent
  • QS experience or training.
  • Experience of managing NEC3/4 Forms of Contract
  • Knowledge of gas distribution would be beneficial 
  • Knowledge of unit cost principles and methodologies.
  • Cost reporting and modelling skills.
  • Knowledge of cost benchmarking and its application.
  • Auditing skills.
  • Understanding of key commercial, regulatory and economic drivers.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial information. 
  • Post-degree experience within a regulated industry or Contractor arrangement.
  • Knowledge of Gas Distribution would be beneficial 
  • Excellent commercial acumen, including procurement and supply chain experience / knowledge
