As the Senior Controls Accountant, you'll take responsibility for building, improving and maintaining a robust controls environment within a highly regulated financial services business. A key focus is maintaining and improving the current reconciliation analyses including SAP FI and Contract Management (CMS) systems. You'll liaise with other areas of the business to build end to end process knowledge and evaluate the controls required. Ultimately, you will be improving reliability of the financial reporting and control environment

You will need to be a fully qualified Accountant as you will become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on core applications and processes to provide accurate analysis and solutions to ensure ledger integrity and operational efficiency

What will you be doing?
You will support and deputise for the Accounting Controls Manager including, team managementIdentification and investigation of system faults, representing Finance in prioritisation of theseReconciliation of core system Internal Balances/Real Time Validations to establish control & integrity and identify financial differencesPerform key tasks on a daily and monthly basis in line with the month end time-tableBuild, update and support the manual models for working closely with accounting and commercialYou'll be responsible for producing month end performance analysis for Board of ManagementProduction of trend analyses and Management Information for Senior Management and provide data analysis to support the rest of the Finance DepartmentYou'll work with other departments to understand all aspects of the Contract Management System(CMS) and other core business systems that impact financial postingsUnderstand the impact of operational/system changes to procedures and core systems, assessing the accounting and control implications of proposed system changesComplete and review all relevant balance sheet reconciliations, providing summaries including CMS and SAP FI accounts across our product rangeUnderstand the interaction/impact of subsidiary systems on accounting systems to ensure system integrityYou'll design and implement appropriate data modelling solutions to ensure correct accounting within Financial StatementsYou'll share the responsibility for maintenance of CMS posting booksMaintain a detailed knowledge of source data, and the structure and use of financial information from core systems which feeds into the Financial StatementsYou'll build strong relationships with departments in order to build end to end process knowledge, commercial knowledge and analyticsProvide data analysis, including the use of SQL, to support FinanceUnderstand all relevant controls and make suggestions on developments and improvementsBe one of the key points of contact for External Auditors for process and system overviews, ensuring any audit impact is identified, evaluated and agreedYou'll co-author and analyse business issues to generate Business Requirements Documents and Change Requests
How can you add value?
You'll need to be a Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA)Detailed understanding of operational system design and financial integrity with a working knowledge of SAP FI/CMSAdvanced Excel is essential and, if you also know Business Objects and other data management and reporting tools such as SQL and Tableau, that would be a big advantageYou will need up to date awareness of regulatory and compliance legislation as it impacts this roleExperience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholdersPrevious line management experience would be preferable for when you deputiseYou have demonstrable, excellent analytical approach supported by strong statistical skillsExcellent communication skills to collaborate with both Finance and non-Finance colleaguesYou can work flexibly under pressure to meet strict deadlines and react effectively to resolve problems
