Job Description

To act as an Advanced Practitioner and Mental Health Officer within the Community Mental Health Team. To support the delivery and development of competent and professional social work practice within the service.

Requirements

To provide a Social Work and Mental Health Officer service directly to service users experiencing mental illness working in conjunction with Partner Agencies and Multi-disciplinary colleagues.
To participate and contribute to the development of Mental Health services in Moray, in line with all relevant statutory requirements, department policies, local and national strategies.
To lead on and contribute in Performance and Quality Assurance issues across the service in line with the Social Care Governance Agenda, including ICT improvements and practice audits.
To provide support, guidance, coaching and mentoring to the Mental Health Social Work Team to ensure the delivery of competent, professional practice.
To contribute to practice, policy and procedure improvements and developments through contribution of expert knowledge and recovery principals within and beyond the Mental Health Social Work Team.

The Individual

Considerable experience as a qualified Social Worker.
Excellent knowledge of legislation, policies and practices associated with Community Care.
Experience of successfully managing a varied and complex caseload.
Experience of multi-disciplinary working.
Professional qualification in Social Work and registration with SSSC.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Mental Health Officer qualification or willingness to gain MHO qualification.
Ability to negotiate and liaise effectively.
Ability to reconcile demands and wishes against financial processes.
Ability to work flexibly and to meet demands of service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Competent use of IT equipment, software and good keyboard skills.
Effective time management, assessment and organisational skills.
You will be expected to travel efficiently between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/ pool car.
Ability to present complex information to colleagues.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to support and monitor colleagues.
Ability to challenge practice appropriately.
Organised and able to manage competing priorities.
Ability to work in partnership in a multi-professional way.
Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative.

Ability to work in different offices/settings to meet the needs of the service.

Starting Salary: £47,068
£24.97 per hour
36.25 Hours per week
