Teaching Fellow in Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is committed to supporting excellence in both research and teaching. The work of the successful applicant will include contributing to teaching on the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees including co-delivery of a Joint Educational Programme (JEP) in Biomedical Engineering with North-Eastern University, China.
This post represents an exciting opportunity to contribute with the development and delivery of our teaching programmes including the JEP, with an emphasis on medical image computing and advanced methods for computational imaging. This is an area which is linked to existing departmental strengths, e.g. in cardiovascular machine learning and medical physics, and is aligned with the Centre for Medical Engineering and Technology and key clinical partners in NHS Tayside and in the School of Medicine.
Your priorities will include:
- Carry out teaching and supervision at postgraduate and undergraduate level to a variety of students (medical, biomedical engineering) in relevant subjects such as medical image analysis, deep learning for medical imaging, including contributing to curriculum design.
- Make a contribution to excellence in research-led teaching in medical imaging within the existing strengths and resources in the Centre of Medical Engineering and Technology.
Who we’re looking for:
- A PhD (or soon to complete) in Biomedical Engineering, Physics or closely related subject
- Experience in programming for medical imaging applications
- Evidence of use of innovative teaching methods or tutoring
- Ability to generate external funding for research/scholarship and/or knowledge exchange projects
The role holder will be required to engage in the delivery of teaching at North Eastern University (NEU), China, over the duration of this appointment, therefore overseas travel is an essential requirement of the role.
As this role is based between the UK and China, the role holder must hold the right to work in both countries or be eligible to obtain this. Support with making an application for the relevant work visa(s) will be provided, if necessary.
