An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lead  - Psychology - to join a passionate team of professionals working in partnership with people in our services across Merseyside.

YMCA Together is a dynamic, creative organisation working with people experiencing homelessness, problematic drug and alcohol use, domestic abuse and poor mental health. We work in a psychologically informed way, using Cognitive Analytic Therapy, as our framework. We provide over 500 units of supported accommodation, working alongside 2000 people each year.

We use CAT both as a case management tool with people in service, teams and the organisation and as a direct intervention in our rehab service.

As a Clinical Lead psychologist in the organisation, you will be well placed to innovate and to deliver creative and new ways to make a difference to the lives of the people we support. You will ensure that high quality individualised care is delivered across our services. You will support relational working across our teams, alongside the continuation of local care pathways, providing in-depth specialist knowledge and advice that will inform this process.

Job Role: Clinical Lead - Psychology Services

Responsible to: Deputy Chief Executive

Responsible for: Head of Psychological Services, Trainee Psychologists  and Assistant Psychologists,  

Hours of Work: 22.5 hrs per week up to 37.5 hours (flexible working hours can be agreed) 

Location: Liverpool - across all services

Holiday entitlement is 30 days plus bank holidays, pro rata, 4% contributing pension 

Main purpose of job: 

The Director of Psychological Services has oversight for the embedding of the Cognitive Analytic Framework (CAT) across the organisation through training, development and reflective practice. They will provide line management and supervision support to the psychology team, including Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement.   

Developing quality and innovative solutions for people who use services and YMCA stakeholders to balance the responsibilities for legal compliance, such as health and safety, employment law, housing law and the necessity to protection vulnerable client groups. 

Main Responsibilities 

Ensure the systematic embedding of a relational approach using Cognitive Analytic Therapy as the framework for psychologically informed working across the organisation  Play an active role in strategic reviews and contribute to the wider thinking and planning of the organisation.  To develop and lead a robust approach to evaluating the organisations services under your remit in order to demonstrate the impact and value of what we do.  To establish, promote and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Specific Duties

Main Responsibilities. 

Ensure the systematic embedding of Cognitive Analytic Therapy as the framework for psychologically informed working across the organisation  Advise, supervise, and support the psychology team, including Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement, to provide psychologically based case management and treatment within the service.  Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the organisation  Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.  Propose and lead on the implementation of service developments where appropriate.  Work in an effective partnership with the Psychology Team, SLT, Heads Of and Service Managers and members of other agencies responsible for a clients care  Contribute to sharing the work of the organisation through journals and speaking at conferences  Design and deliver training both internally and to external stakeholders that helps people to understand psychologically informed working and CAT as an approach for this.  Support the embedding of reflective practice across the organisation.  Maintaining registration and accreditations  Undertaking regular clinical supervision. 

Team 

Prepare papers for consideration by the SLT, CEO and the Board of Trustees.  Lead and manage by example.  Facilitate at meetings and workshops as appropriate.  Assist in the development and updating of organisational policies.  Supervise, motivate and monitor training staff and freelances in their work.  Participate in the recruitment of staff and freelancers and lead on planning and overseeing their induction.   Ensure personnel records are correctly maintained.   Ensure effective communication with staff within YMCA Together  Work flexibly to meet the changing needs of the organisation.  Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested. 

Professional Practice and Development 

Attend regular supervision sessions with the CEO in accordance with the supervision contract.  Maintain good professional practice and ensure ongoing development, through use of supervision and training.  Provide progress reports to the CEO and key stakeholders as required.  Keep up to date with research and practice to maintain knowledge necessary for this post.   Respect the confidentiality of service users using the service and be responsible for the security of personal and confidential information.  Carry out all these duties within the organisation’s safety guidelines

Person Specification 

Qualifications

Essential  

Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology  Registered as a Counselling or Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. Or  UKCP-registered psychotherapist or psychotherapeutic counsellor, 

Desirable 

Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.  ACAT accredited  

Experience

Experience providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment of people under your care  Supporting teams to work relationally  Supporting organisational working using a psychological framework  Experience of partnership working   Ability to undertake complex multiagency working and liaise with multiple systems effectively. Ability to formulate risk assessments   Experience of working in a therapeutic environment  Working experience of developing and delivering training   Working experience of maintaining up to date electronic records and calendars   Experience of delivering group interventions   Experience of delivering co-produced activities   Experience of working within a psychologically informed environment (PIE)   Experience of working with CAT as a case management tool with teams  Understanding of business development.
