GSL Education is actively seeking passionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work in special schools in Wandsworth, starting from September 2024. You will be integral to supporting students with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential in a specialised educational environment.

Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your key duties will include:

Providing tailored support to students with SEND, SEMH, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.Assisting teachers in developing and adapting lessons to meet individual student needs, in line with the curriculum and key stages.Delivering one-on-one and small group support to help students with academic and personal development.Encouraging students to build independence, social skills, and confidence within the classroom.Supporting classroom activities and ensuring continuity of learning, especially in the absence of the teacher.Helping implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and productive learning environment.

Job Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant

To succeed in this role, you will need:

CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is desirable.A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Psychology, or a relevant field is preferred.Prior experience working with children in an SEN or PRU setting or as an SEN Teaching Assistant is essential.Strong interpersonal skills with a patient and empathetic approach to working with students.The ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and other staff to support student progress.
