About the role
We are looking for someone with experience of (and a passion for) Open Research to help develop our Open Access publication services and become a key member of our research community.
Working within the Library’s Research & Open Scholarship team, you will help manage a dynamic and enthusiastic service that supports researchers across Schools & disciplines, helping shape the institution’s commitments to an Open Research culture.
You will provide operational management of the Library’s Open Access publication services,
including use of our publishing agreements & funder block grants, deliver training & guidance on Open Access, advocate for our Publications policies, contribute to our REF2029 submission, and be a champion for the wider benefits of Open Research.
You will manage the Institutional Repository (Figshare) and CRIS (Elements) systems and provide guidance & support on deposit and publication management.
You will contribute to the University’s open publishing initiatives including our Open Press, working with colleagues in the Library and beyond to innovate and develop our publishing capacity.
Sussex has a flourishing Open Research community and the collaborative aspect of this role provides an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop in the academic Library Open Research space.
About you
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual with a good understanding of the Open Access landscape and an awareness of the current environment in Higher Education, including a working understanding of Open Research & its opportunities.
You will have keen attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and the interpersonal skills to manage a small team in a busy, complex environment. You will be able to effectively manage your own time & workload, communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, and demonstrate the ability to develop & enhance the team’s service to the research community.
