As a registered Social Worker, you will need to have a sound understanding of the Children Act 1989, the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014 and a knowledge and understanding of the role of a Local Authority Designated officer, associated legislation, and guidance, as well as at least three years’ experience of working in Children’s Services.

You will be responsible for providing advice, information and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations around allegations and concerns regarding paid and unpaid workers. Managing and overseeing individual cases from all partner agencies. Ensuring the child's voice is heard and that they are safeguarded.

You will evidence the ability to strengthen partnership working arrangements with multi-agency colleagues and provide collaborative leadership and direction to the development of high-quality support for children, families, partner agencies and teams within the Directorate.

Bridgend has recently launched the Signs of safety practice model and as such you will receive full training in how to use this model of working. In return, you will receive a robust induction, regular supervision, training and mentoring where required. Additionally, you will be able to further your career with both development and promotional opportunities.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

Criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.

Under the provisions of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 this post is designated as politically restricted.
