This is an important time for Churchill Community College as we begin our improvement journey across the school.

As such we have an exciting opportunity for someone who is ready to join a team at the start of this journey of improvement. The successful candidate will work alongside a Lead Practitioner for Chemistry who is already in post.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and dynamic lead practitioner of Physics, to work within the Science department to develop the teaching practice and curriculum for Physics. The Science department is thriving and has a reputation for excellent teaching and learning. All students study Science at Key Stage 3 and 4 with students returning to study the subject Post 16 to build on their success from GCSE.

A lead practitioner should be an exemplar of teaching skills, lead the improvement of teaching skills, as well as take a leadership role in developing, implementing and evaluating strategies to contribute to the overall development of the Science department. The lead practitioner will work within the Science department to contribute to improving outcomes for pupils through outstanding provision in the development of teaching and learning of Physics. 

The successful candidate will be:

  • Able to demonstrate leadership skills to support the development of staff
  • An outstanding communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. An enthusiastic team-player, self-motivated and committed to further professional development.
  • Be able to model outstanding planning, assessment and teaching in order to support staff in the school team to achieve high quality teaching over time.
