Activity Manager Portsmouth
Welfare Officers Portsmouth and Manchester

Centre Manager - you will have overall responsibility for the school, ensuring the academic and social programmes are run effectively, and you will line manage the Director of Studies and the Activity Manager. You will take primary responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of the students, oversee allocation of accommodation, communicate effectively with staff, students, Group Leaders, the host institution and NCG Head Office, complete all paperwork in a timely manner, keep within the set budgets and deliver an outstanding experience for everyone.

Director of Studies - you will be responsible for the smooth running of the academic programme and will lead a team of teachers with varying degrees of experience. Duties include induction of academic staff, assessment testing and appropriate placement of students, timetabling, ensuring the syllabus is used effectively, cover teaching when necessary, teacher observations, tracking student absenteeism and the provision of CPD sessions. You will support the Centre Manager in the management of the centre and deputise for him/her when necessary, and will be expected to undertake pastoral, welfare or other duties as necessary.

Activity Manager - you will be responsible for the efficient planning, organisation and running of the social programme both off-site and on-site, and you will liaise with Group Leaders and students to promote the programme and ensure student participation. You will manage a team of Activity Leaders, and deputise for the Centre Manager when required. You will be expected to undertake pastoral, welfare or other duties as necessary.

Welfare Officer - you will be responsible for promoting an inclusive and safe school environment, ensuring that students adjust to being in the UK, follow school rules and make the most of their stay. You will carry out staff and Group Leader training in areas of safety and welfare, ensure that staff follow health and safety guidelines and are fully conversant with risk assessments, as well as undertaking administrative tasks. You may be required to deputise for the Centre Manager at times.

New College Group is accredited by the British Council.

New College Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and all staff are expected to share this commitment. Therefore, all references will be followed up, gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily and appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to appointment. A DBS check will be requested in the event of a successful application, together with a police check from any country where you have lived for more than six months in the recent past.QualificationsRequirements for all positions:

Centre Manager
university degree
Previous management experience essential, preferably in a summer school setting
experience of money management/budgets
office administration experience

Director of Studies
University degree and DELTA or equivalent
previous summer school experience

Activity Manager
previous summer school experience, preferably in a managerial capacity
first aid certificate desirable

Welfare Officer
previous experience of working on a summer school, preferably with safeguarding/welfare experience
