This important role offers the opportunity to play a leading role in the HealthMod Cluster, a collaborative effort focused on improving population health and reducing inequalities through data-driven insights. You’ll work closely with a range of partners – from academia, government agencies, local and regional governments, research institutes and third sector organisations.
 You will also work with colleagues to ensure research conducted by HealthMod informs evidence-based policy decisions to build a better connected, more prosperous, fairer, greener, and healthier West Midlands.
This role presents a unique opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact to reduce inequalities and build inclusive growth across the West Midlands. Using your data analysis expertise, you'll directly contribute to shaping policy decisions that improve lives in the region.
This position is being offered as a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2028.
Please note that successful candidates will be advised of interview arrangements by Tuesday 30th April. 
Interviews will be taking place on Friday 3rd May and Tuesday 7th May via Microsoft Teams
What will you be doing?Leverage your analytical expertise to extract valuable insights from complex datasets, informing critical policy decisions by regional leaders.Bridge the gap between research and implementation by ensuring health research effectively translates into actionable policy strategies.Work in a collaborative environment, partnering with diverse partners including academic institutions, government agencies, and research institutes.Develop and implement innovative methods for data management, integration, and analysis, ensuring data quality and promoting a data-driven culture within the WMCA.Lead research projects, contributing significantly to the success of the HealthMod Cluster and a healthier West MidlandsChampion research across the WMCA to ensure research needs are met.Deputise for the Head of Research, Intelligence and Inclusive Growth in the regional and national research, intelligence, analysis, and data community where appropriate.About you Experienced data analyst with a proven track record in both quantitative and qualitative analysis.Strong communicator capable of crafting clear, concise, and impactful reports for senior stakeholders.Collaborative professional with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.Strong technical proficiency in data analysis, modelling, and data management tools.Understanding of data quality assurance, validation, and linkageExcellent written and verbal communication skills to engage a wide range of audiences.Understanding of the legal and ethical compliance needs of research projects and know when to seek further support on legal or ethical issues.How to apply.

Salary and benefits.We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. Hybrid working means having flexibility between working in the office and at home on agreed days, where a role allows. This is agreed between an employee and their line manager, considering the business, team, and employee needs. The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
