Are you a qualified engineer? Do you have experience in project cost control? Are you looking to develop your expertise and build experience in the exciting and challenging environment of nuclear new build?

If so, join us as a Cost Engineer and you'll join one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity...

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As a Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for consolidating and coordinating HPC project cost control activities for ITB, SST, CI-BOP, and UKMC within EPR-E (EDF EPR Engineering UK).

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary from £50,000 to £55,000, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle, and the opportunity to earn bonus.

At EDF, everyone's welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.  We're committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.  We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We'll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you'll be doing

  • Budget forecasting and reporting for all HPC-EPR-E teams, including annual task orders, work orders, and Estimate at Completion.
  • Performing monthly analysis of work orders budget, actuals, and accruals.
  • Investigating deviations in actual budget performance compared to estimated work order performance for HPC-EPR-E.
  • Administering the budget change process according to project procedures.
  • Assisting ITB, SST, CI-BOP, and UKMC Project Controls managers and Cost Controllers in gathering budget estimates for annual task orders and work orders.
  • Contributing to monthly Earned Value Management analysis.
  • Supporting HPC-EPR-E Project Controls Manager in educating engineering teams about the cost process, through both formal training and informal discussions.
  • Providing information and analysis to assist EPR-E senior management in producing monthly consolidated HPC-EPR-E reports.
