The Post

We are the leading provider of Data Services and Advanced Analytics within the public sector in Scotland. The Data and Analytics Service is a dedicated team of professionals that design, develop, and support integrated data and analytical platforms for NHS Scotland. Our work underpins Scotland's reputation as a world leader in health informatics.

We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic data and advanced analytics professionals to join our team as Technical Specialists. 

As a Technical Specialist, you will work in our delivery teams, specifically in the areas of technical analysis, data modelling and data integration/ETL.  This is a critical role in supporting the strategic direction for better use of data to support service delivery and outcomes across Scotland.

Key responsibilities include:

Technical Analysis.
Data platform architecting and engineering (including physical and virtual).
Architecting and engineering of complex data processing and data wrangling routines.
Architecting and engineering of innovative data and advanced analytical solutions.
Pro-actively contributing to service improvement.
User engagement.

The Candidate

You will bring the following to the team:

Demonstrable experience of designing, developing and implementing innovative data, BI, and analytics solutions.
Knowledge of building data products (incl. ETL/ELT).
Writing and management of code for the analysis and processing of data.
Strong and effective communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Passion to make a difference.
Desire to excel within a high performing team.
Appetite for lifelong learning and growth.
Ability to constructively challenge, and to confidently contribute to overall success of the service.
Good understanding of current state and future trends in business intelligence and analytics with willingness to dive deeper into the detail when required.
Desire to support and develop other members of the team.

Location and Working Pattern

Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow.

Monday to Friday, 37 hours - hybrid working options available.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
