Our marine client in Port of Glasgow is looking for an experience Planning Manager to join them on a permanent basis.  As a Planning Manager you will be responsible for supporting project, production, planning and scheduling teams.

The Planning Manager will also support other business planning requirements, i.e. strategic business planning, facility capacity planning, bid support, and workload forecasting

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a planning leadership role in a ship building environment, with a commercial ship building bias preferred.

  • Planning experience of a greater duration in equivalent marine, oil & gas, or fabrication industries may be accepted as an alternative, and applications from these areas are encouraged.

  • Minimum 10 years additional experience in operational roles in shipyards, or equivalent.

  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree (preferred).

  • Advanced Primavera 6 user.

  • Advanced user of the Microsoft Office package of applications.

  • Excellent knowledge of planning techniques / methodologies.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the project cycle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for the departmental delivery of logic linked plans, incorporating the inputs and requirements of all stakeholders, then ensuring the effective monitoring and accurate progress and performance reporting against those plans.

  • Actively contribute to project risk management, and accountable for escalating issues or risks to the achievement of plans to the Head of Programme as soon as recognised.

  • Identify the planning requirements across the business, assessing the competencies of existing planning resources, identifying training and recruitment needs, and enhancing the planning capability over time through selective recruitment, internal transfers, training, coaching, and mentoring.

  • Support the development of, and be responsible, for the implementation of company policies, procedures and processes, both specific to the area of planning, but also as required in support of other areas of the business.

  • Driving a culture change programme to facilitate the business moving forward with the correct behaviours and values.

  • Responsible for maintenance of, and reporting against, existing plans, upgrading existing plans, and the development of new plans as required for the delivery of ship building or equivalent fabrication projects.
