Responsible Individual - Children's Home

Your new company
We are looking for an exceptional, hardworking and highly motivated Responsible Individual to provide management and leadership.This new provision is an opportunity to be innovative in the way we understand the needs of this important group of young people. This multi-professional model will work from a strength-based and trauma-informed approach, meeting the needs of children, young people, and their families.
Your new role
On a day-to-day basis, you will provide leadership, support and guidance to Registered Managers and Deputy Managers to ensure services are fully compliant with regulatory requirements and provide high quality residential care for children and young people with a range of complex needs, including emotional, behavioural and social difficulties, along with autistic spectrum disorder and physical disability. You will work closely with the Residential Operational Manager.

You will:

Ensure that development plans for the individual care homes and the overarching Residential Service are in place, and that progress is robustly monitored to ensure timely and continuous improvement.
Ensure that there is a clear quality framework of service standards in place, against which performance is measured.
What you'll need to succeed

  • Fully understand the legislative framework governing the service provision and the relevant regulations to which the service must comply
  • Fully understand their specific duties in relation to each service for which they are responsible
  • Understand the requirements of the service manager and how they and the manager should relate and communicate with one another
  • Know how to maintain oversight of the service, including the setting, measuring and achievement of its quality standards, the safeguarding of people receiving care and staff disciplinary proceedings
  • Be in regular contact with the service and make visits in line with Regulation 73 of the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) (Wales) Regulations 2017.
  • Know how to inform the service provider (and where legally required by the CIW) of any significant events and developments in a service, including if they are likely to be absent or unable to carry out their responsibilities for any reason
  • Understand the service provider's duty of candour, and how and when it should exercise that duty.
