The School of Computing is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow who can help us to deliver an excellent standard of education across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in computer science, over the full calendar year. 

Your primary responsibilities will be to the delivery of small group classes, such as seminars, drop in sessions and PC classes, including assisting with the development of teaching materials and methods. You will also have responsibility for marking assessments, including exams. In addition, the role could include taught student project supervision, supporting admissions activities by contributing to open days and applicant days and student support through acting as an academic advisor.

This is full time, and on a fixed term basis for 12 months, including teaching responsibilities during the summer period outside of the normal academic teaching terms. It is important to note that hours are not spread evenly throughout the year and that the successful applicant should expect to work more hours during teaching terms than during vacation periods.

As a Teaching Fellow you will:

  • Undertake teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, including supervision of projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level 
  • Set and mark assessments including examinations 
  • Contribute to student recruitment and admissions 
  • Act as academic advisor to students 
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the School on module development, delivery and assessment 
  • Undertake academic administration responsibilities as required

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience of teaching computing at higher education level 
  • Ability to effectively educate and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students across a wide variety of computer science modules
  • Deliver teaching to achieve the highest standards of student experience
