Your responsibilities

 

The general project manager is responsible for the implementation of the project according to the agreed scope, quality, time and cost. Within the scope of their authorities, they have the final decision-making power for projects up to and including 1 Billion Euros.

 

The tasks of the general project manager are:

  • To maintain an on site presence as appropriate to the project (Locations are to be approved but should be expected to be on or near the location of our existing UK portfolio).
  • Representing the project both internally and externally, as well as performing the function of the central contact for the client (project owner), the Uniper management, the authorities, the public and other stakeholders in the project. 
  • Fostering an excellent HSSE culture in accordance with Uniper requirements and leading HSSE culture by example.
  • Managing the Project Committee meeting, reporting to the Project Committee and facilitating decision-making.
  • Setting and maintaining the vision, mission, goals of the project team to achieve the project targets.
  • Ensuring the appropriate application and implementation of the Project Management Framework, Uniper's quality and HSSE management systems, and other related business policies to develop the business case and make all relevant decisions throughout the project duration.
  • Managing the overall project in all aspects e.g. scope, business case, quality, technical, time, staffing, HSSE etc..
  • Staffing and selection of the project organization in collaboration with line organization, including the procurement of required resources.
  • Building a passionate and well-performing cross-functional team with high degree of ownership based on clear project mandate and sustained by open and clear communication channels
  • Managing the project management team, enhancing team performance, fostering team building & motivation through effective communication.
  • Managing project risks and implementation of mitigating strategies and measures to avoid and minimize risks. 
  • Directing incident and crisis management within the project. Coordinating with the line organization regarding corporate-wide guidelines on handling crises.
  • Assisting in obtaining all required official approvals and permits and ensuring compliance with the permit obligations.
  • Managing changes to the project, in particular those that affect scope, business case, time or budget.
  • Initiating and promoting project-internal and assisting in cross-project knowledge management and providing lessons-learned documentation during the course of and at the end of the project.
  • Ensuring a proper project completion including handover and the Project Close Out Report. 
 

  

Your profile


  • University degree in engineering or science or equivalent experience.
  • Broad competence across the energy sectors and extensive experience of project management in a power or gas utility, EPC contractor or comparable company.
  • Experience of engineering delivery to a generation/upstream asset based business & relevant technology.
  • Proven executive level project management competence and proven success in large projects as General Project Manager.
  • International experience: working experience in more than one country and regulatory environment.
  • Ability to drive cultural change in international project organizations.
  • High assertiveness combined with distinct customer orientation.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; experience in leading and inspiring multi-country teams. Strong identification with Uniper’s Vision & the ability to communicate this.
  • Executive level relationship management & networking skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.
