Sustainability Advisor

London, United Kingdom Allen & York Full time

Allen & York are delighted to be working with a leading UK housebuilder as they look to recruit two Sustainability Advisors to join their business and help further drive and consolidate sustainability practices company wide. As such, you'll be keen to get stuck in, utilise your current experience and learn from your peers in a dynamic environment with this highly successful business.

From a technical perspective, you will have experience of working in the construction sector in a sustainability capacity and have a good understanding of Environmental Management Systems in construction, as well as exposure to energy efficiency and management and data interpretation and reporting. You will be looking at sustainability issues such as water, carbon, waste and energy so experience of having worked on these would be advantageous and it would benefit you well if you have strong analytical skills and are competent at using Excel but you'll also require strong written skills as you'll be compiling written reports as well. It's expected that you will hold a degree in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Sciences or Sustainability and some relevant work experience.

You will be comfortable working under your own steam, using your initiative to identify issues and to raise them with the relevant stakeholders. As such, your interpersonal skills will be excellent, and you'll be able to adapt your approach and tone depending on who you're dealing with. In addition, you'll be well organised and happy working to deadlines as you'll be collating and presenting data to senior members of the business.

Based in London, you will most likely use public transport to get from site to site and there is also the potential to work one day from home, with the agreement from your manager and they operate flexible working hours so you can work hours that suit you, as long as you're operating within the core hours. You will be both site and office based and will manage your own time with regards to where you base yourself, although it is really helpful for you to be on site, more so initially, whilst you're building relationships and identifying issues.

This is a really exciting opportunity for an ambitious, dedicated sustainability professional to learn and develop in a progressive company where there are lots of opportunities to advance your career. So, to find out more about this opportunity, please contact Katie on kpereira@allen-york.com.
