The legal team at WPA have enviably close and collaborative relationships with our internal clients and work closely alongside the broader business.

We are a pro- active, committed and close-knit team of 4 including the Head of Legal, 2 Senior Solicitors and a Paralegal, and together we look after both the legal and data protection work at WPA. We are looking for a solicitor to join the team and work with us in a mutually supportive but dedicated and fast paced environment.  You can expect to be valued, to play a vital role in our team and to develop relationships across the business from day one.

The role:

Reporting to the Head of Legal, your role will be varied, and you will work hand in hand with your internal clients. Depending on your prior experience, this could involve:

  • Reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Supporting with tenders from prospective customers.
  • GDPR work, including supporting with subject rights requests.
  • Drafting or reviewing or advising on the application of policy wording or customer disclosures.
  • Assisting with the resolution of more complex complaints.
  • Advising on legislation which impacts on the business; Horizon scanning and providing updates on relevant changes to the legal environment.
  • Providing legal input on projects across the business.
  • Providing advice on the broad range of legal matters that arise in an in-house environment.
  • Providing training on legal matters.
  • Acting as the legal team ‘lead’ on ISO standards.

About you

You will have:

  • Post Qualified Experience (PQE) including experience at a well regarded law firm, In house experience would be an advantage.
  • Predominantly commercial experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise a diverse portfolio of work.
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills.
  • Confidence to work and deliver advice autonomously and to engage at all levels of the business.
  • The ability to work in partnership with other members of the legal team and business colleagues.
  • A ‘can do’ and pragmatic attitude.
  • Enthusiasm for your work, and a commitment to our team and to the company and its success.

Experience in one or more of the following legal fields is desirable:

  • General commercial work; Consumer law; IT contracts; GDPR; Financial services; Insurance.
