Position Summary
We are looking for a Training Capability Specialist to join our team in York. This is an outstanding rare opportunity to develop your career with one of the biggest companies on the planet.
Nestlé York Factory is the home of the iconic confectionery brand Kit Kat amongst several other well-known brands such as Aero, Milky bar and Yorkie These are produced through controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.

A day in the life of a Training Capability Specialist
Reporting into the Manufacturing Excellence Manager, the main purpose of the role is to contribute to the creation of market standards which support effective operational training, and to execute these solutions locally in order to build operational capability within the Factory.
As Manufacturing Capability Specialist, you will be responsible for to ensure training compliance to legal and Nestlé requirements through working in partnership with Training and Learning. Support the site to deliver its operation master plan in the areas of compliance, training and development and share good practices across the MCS network to create alignment.
- Manage Training Budget in-line with factory training requirements: To develop and execute the site annual training plan. This will include training needs analysis, evaluation, training records.
- Operational Training Competence: Responsibly for the operational competence of individuals on site and by working in partnership with line manager to ensure the training provision is effective. Cost, priority, standardisation are elements to consider. Implement market or business supported operational competency tools (POKA). This should be delivered in a pilot area and them replicated across the site using the site developed team.
- Mandatory Training Compliance: 100% (available employees) completion of all site mandatory training on time and in full which includes reporting to comply with Nestle and External audit requirements.
- NCE competence build in-line with TPM Expansion: Support line managers and Pillars to build robust NCE Competency Build Plans to ensure TPM steps are delivered on time. Effective member of the sites GA and E&T Pillar.
- Reporting of operational competency, LPM competency and Mandatory Training results to the sites FLT. Drive actions across the function heads. Ensure site apprentices including upskilling are being supported effectively by the sites apprentice lead.
- Critical support the factory HR community in the recruitment of key roles across the business. Develop strong and compliant induction processes to ensure compliance at the beginning of the employment. Development and management of the critical onboarding plans to ensure everyone has the correct level of training and development to perform the task safely without risking Health and Safety, Food Safety or Nestlé reputation. Onboarding plans to be audited and signed off at each level by the site subject matter experts and process needs to be permanently audit ready.
What will make you successful
key attributes we are looking are:
- Proven track record within a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations.
- Evidence of working within training and development, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Experience of training, coaching, and assessing others.
- Proven track record experience of working within multi-functional teams. Experience of budget preparation and management.
