Our newly established Delivery Directorate is seeking a skilled Governance and Assurance Manager to oversee the seamless co-ordination and implementation of a robust governance and assurance function for our transport portfolio. This pivotal role within the organisation entails ensuring compliance and seamless integration of governance and assurance activities across all transport projects and within the broader governance structure of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
Being part of the major change programme for Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) you will introduce new ways of working to enhance how we engage with projects in development and delivery. You will collaborate closely with teams across the portfolio office and the WMCA governance team, fostering a unified approach to governance and information management,utilising systems such as Modern.gov. This collaborative effort will underpin our ability to meet the control requirements of our programmes and projects effectively and enable performance to be communicated transparently. 
This is a great opportunity for an adept problem solver and a strong and effective communicator with good interpersonal skills.
What will you be doing?Implement the Governance architecture and manage and coordinate Portfolio governance requirements, across multi-disciplinary teams.Support the implementation of best practice governance, compliance processes and systems.Work with the broader portfolio team to establish compliant information practices and support key senior governance meetings, groups and boards.Work with the broader portfolio team to progressively mature governance and information management.Advise project and programme teams on governance issues.Establish and maintain governance calendars.Support the migration of disparate systems and processes.About you.Proven experience working in an assurance/governance/quality role. Preferably transport, however not essential.Demonstrable experience implementing and coordinating governance for portfolio/programme/projects or similar.Demonstrable experience supporting board level meetings; setting agendas, collating papers, capturing minutes, actions, and decisions.Experience implementing and maintaining information management systems such as SharePoint, Modern.Gov and managing archives.Good organisational, written, and verbal skills.  Good collaboration and mentoring skills, ability to educate and implement new processes and policies in programme/project teams.Ability to work well under pressure.How to apply. On clicking ‘apply for this job’, you will first be prompted to create an account. Salary and benefits.We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate.
