To excel as a Recruitment Administrator at the Royal Devon, especially in a fast paced and complex environment like the NHS, you will need to possess a blend of technical skills, personal qualities, and professional attributes.

You will hold your own caseload of candidates, supporting them through all the necessary pre-employment checks and escalating queries or concerns to the recruiting manager and the recruitment management team. You will be customer focused in your approach, ensuring the candidate and recruiting manager has all they need to complete the recruitment process fully and as efficiently as possible.

Other key attributes are, in no particular order:

  • Great organisational skills – the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently. This includes scheduling ID appointments, prioritising as required, and handling documentation and processes without errors.
  • Strong customer-focused communication skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial. The role requires effective interaction with candidates, staff, and management through various channels (phone, email, MS Teams and in-person). The ability to convey information clearly, helpfully and professionally is vital.
  • Attention to Detail - Accuracy is very important, particularly in verifying documentation, conducting pre-employment checks, and entering data accurately. Small errors can lead to compliance issues or delays in the recruitment process.
  • Empathy and Interpersonal Skills - Understanding and relating to people from diverse backgrounds, especially when handling sensitive personal information or addressing candidate concerns.
  • Initiative and Self-Motivation - Being proactive in managing the recruitment cycle, seeking ways to improve processes no matter how small or unusual the idea
  • Teamwork: While self-motivation is important, being able to work collaboratively with other team members and departments is crucial for cohesive and efficient operation.
  • Inclusivity: Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace and actively supporting diversity, which aligns with the Trust’s values and enhances the recruitment strategy.
  • Technological Proficiency: Competence with recruitment software, HR information systems, and general computer literacy to manage data and streamline the recruitment process efficiently.

Experience in NHS recruitment is advantageous but not essential as we will train you in all you need to know.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week

Interview Date: 11th June 2024
