The Laser Processing Team are looking for an Advanced Research Engineer to join their team based in Coventry.

Main Responsibilities

Independently deliver technical projects and serve as the Technical Lead for smaller projects, as needed.

Ensure that project work consistently meets or exceeds agreed-upon customer requirements, adhering to set budgets and timelines.

Conduct innovative research on laser-based manufacturing and work on applied industrial projects, demonstrating the ability to bridge research and industrial application.

Contribute to identifying and develop new and innovative laser-based technologies for implementation within the MTC, customer sites, or industrial member premises.

Engage in all aspects of the project life cycle, including concept generation, proposal writing, and project delivery.

Person Specification

Degree or PhD level qualification in engineering, technology, or science.

Knowledge of laser material processing; Experience in laser-based material removal is an advantage.

Good interpersonal and organisational skills.

Proficiency in report writing and presentation skills.

A collaborative mindset with a desire to support colleagues and share expertise within the department and across the MTC.

Committed to working collaboratively and building effective networks.

Hands-on, pragmatic problem-solving skills, with a willingness to participate in practical aspects of project when necessary.

Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and within a team to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.

Experience in environments requiring adherence to processes and policies that ensure customer confidentiality.

Professional registration, or a willingness to work towards achieving professional registration.

Knowledge of the UK manufacturing sector is an advantage.
