Job Title: Advanced Research Engineer

This is a permanent, full-time vacancy at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). We are seeking an Advanced Research Engineer to join our Laser Processing Team based in Coventry.

About the Role:

The Advanced Research Engineer (ARE) role is focused on the technical delivery of welding/joining projects and support the development of project-related activities across the MTC, working across various technology departments and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be largely independent supply of larger project's technical deliverables, and act as Technical Lead for smaller projects where required;
  • Undertake innovative Engineering research work focused primarily on technology/manufacturing readiness levels (TRL/MRL) 3+, and able to demonstrate industrial project delivery;
  • Contribute in the identification, technical specification and delivery of new and novel technology capability into the MTC, customers, or industrial members premises;
  • Involve in all aspects of the project delivery including but not restricted to: technical support of commissioning, awareness of project budget and deliverables.
Requirements:
  • Welding/joining; Robotic/automated welding; Arc welding; Welding standards and application of welding standards; Welding qualification;
  • Ideally have experience in writing reports and presenting to wider audiences.
