Water Testing & Environmental Technician
Permanent. Near Bishops Cleeve
This interesting and varied role that includes water testing, machinery maintenance, data analysis and reporting. Samples are taken from water to ensure they are compliant with permit requirements by physical and mechanical monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will have COSHH, knowledge of monitoring data sheets, good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and a keen interest in the environment.
Due to the rural location own transport is required. Easy reach of Winchombe, Bishops Cleeve, Gotherington, Tewkesbury.
Key Result Areas:
Ensure full Compliance with Environmental Permitting:
- Ensure all discharges into the River is within Discharge Consent Levels
- Assist with the daily monitoring of water quality
- Ensure water analyses is recorded and captured on the Database
- Monitor plant equipment to ensure it is functioning within normal parameters.
- Ensure that you become fully competent with all functioning equipment
- Have the ability to diagnose faults and undertake repairs as directed
- Monitor equipment and take and record readings as required
- Collate data and provide presentations on individual key tasks once per month
ETP Support equipment
- Ensure daily maintenance checks are undertaken on all equipment
- Ensure work requests are submitted in a timely manner for identified faults
- Ensure there is sufficient machinery spares to guarantee a quick turnover if a fault exists
- Manage and maintain a spare stock register for your equipment
- Assist with Risk Assessments on all tasks involving machinery and equipment
Waste Disposal
- Assist all waste carriers with loading and unloading as necessary
- Ensure all waste is stored appropriately and secured as required
- Be competent in all chemical waste procedures
- Support pollution contingency planning for all items listed in the Environmental Permit
- Be aware of all the trigger points relating to the ETP contingency plans
- Supporting the collection of data and development of presentations for training purposes
Hours: 40 hours per week, day shift on rota 6-3pm and 8-5pm. Some weekend work (1-3 hours per day -overtime paid). 13.13ph
