Trainee Traffic Installation Technician - What you'll do:​​​​​​​

As a trainee within our Traffic Signals team, a typical day would see you working closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to install, maintain and test a range of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lights and Electrical equipment that compliment, in and around the West Sussex region. If you already have experience of installing Street Lighting / Highways based Electrical or Lighting equipment, this role will further develop this experience.

Training isn't just in a classroom, it is a mixture of 'on the job' learning and online learning, which will help you progress towards an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations and Sector based certifications such as ECS and the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) Chapter 8.

Trainee Traffic Installation Technician - Who you are:

You will naturally have an intrigue and interest of installation and field based engineering work. You will also ideally have some exposure to anything electrical installations focused - whether that's working with electrical equipment, lighting, controllers, detection boxes etc, or you've had some experience or exposure in a College course. This role requires the successful candidate to take the opportunity to the next level, and commit to learning whilst on the job. If you are interested and keen to make a career out of this role and progress upwards, this is the right role for you.

Trainee Traffic Installation Technician - Key requirements / behaviours:

  • Motivation and willingness to learn through on-the-job, desk based and online learning
  • Previous experience of Electrical Installations or a holder of an Electrical course certification / Diploma or similar
  • Ability to problem solve and providing ideas - ultimately the job requires you to think outside the box, and working through "fault finding instructions"
  • Full UK Driving Licence holder
  • Able to and willing to undertake a Drugs & Alcohol test to ensure compliancy
