Remote United Kingdom PlayStation London Studio Full time

Why PlayStation?

PlayStation isn't just the Best Place to Play - it's also the Best Place to Work. Today, we're recognized as a global leader in entertainment producing The PlayStation family of products and services including PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®VR, PlayStation®Plus, acclaimed PlayStation software titles from PlayStation Studios, and more.

PlayStation also strives to create an inclusive environment that empowers employees and embraces diversity. We welcome and encourage everyone who has a passion and curiosity for innovation, technology, and play to explore our open positions and join our growing global team.

The PlayStation brand falls under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation.

Director of Development Strategy and Support

As the Director of Development Strategy and Support, you help drive and manage the periodic global portfolio title review process across PlayStation Studios, including tracking and reporting on multiple projects in various development stages, coordinating internal reviews, assisting in collecting and reviewing materials, and driving follow-up actions.
Using your extensive knowledge and experience as a leader in game development, you ask the right questions at the right time, while considering the stage of development, the nature of the game being developed, as well as the studios' culture and ways of working. It is in your nature to invite constructive deliberation, informed weighing of pros/cons and promote transparency between all parties and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive, manage and facilitate the global portfolio title review process across PlayStation Studios, including tracking and reporting on multiple projects in various development stages, coordinating internal reviews, assisting in collecting and reviewing materials, and driving follow-up actions.
  • Foster positive and collaborative working relationships with development teams, executive leadership, and support groups to drive effective communication flow and review process.
  • Pro-actively monitor the portfolio of games in development at PlayStation Studios and - in collaboration with all stakeholders - identify the ideal timing for reviews, follow-up actions and escalations.
  • Recommend and help drive solutions, opportunities, and mitigate risks based on title review and assessment.
  • Continuously develop, refine, and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and use operational KPI's focused on increased process maturity.
  • Maintain a knowledgebase of best practices and metrics that teams can use to approach their challenges from different perspectives.
  • Unwavering commitment to maintaining confidentiality standards within day-to-day communications & operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of [8+] years of games industry experience, in a leadership role in game production or development project management with a very solid understanding of the entire game development lifecycle (GDLC).
  • Ideally your game development and publishing experience covers traditional single player games as well as GaaS/Live Service games, including post-launch.
  • Ability to review & analyze development stage deliverables; creative, financial, and business related and assist in determining if a wide range of different games are tracking as expected and according to schedule.
  • You are familiar with a wide range of "tools of the trade" to validate assumptions about a game development project, for example: various ways of doing user research & playtesting, using metrics and forecasts from comparable game projects to validate planning assumptions, et cetera.
  • Excellent and personable communicator; with a track record of engaging partners across multiple departments and teams, balancing diplomacy, tact, and credibility.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience collaborating and facilitating communications with global teams across different time zones and all levels of the organization.
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc. (and ideally their Google Suite counterparts)
  • Education: bachelor's degree or greater
  • Project Management Certification (preferred)

Additional:

  • Strong passion for games and remain up to date/current with the industry
