Job Title: Experienced PMLD Teaching Assistant Sector: Education and Training Location: Harpenden Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Day rate: £85 - £95 About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in Harpenden. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with PMLD, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities of a PMLD Teaching Assistant: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Assist in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and other professionals. Support students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while ensuring their dignity and safety. Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all pupils. Work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly. Use specialist equipment and resources to engage students in learning activities. Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development. Requirements of a PMLD Teaching Assistant: Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting. A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students with complex needs. Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is highly desirable. Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
