About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a PMLD Teaching Assistant at Academics. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with PMLD, promoting their social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs), ensuring a holistic approach to student development.
  • Support students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while maintaining their dignity and safety.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all pupils, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly, ensuring the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Utilize specialist equipment and resources to engage students in learning activities, promoting their engagement and motivation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to student development.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of students and the school.
  • Knowledge of specialist equipment and resources, with the ability to utilize them effectively to support student learning.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect, inclusivity, and diversity, with a strong understanding of the needs of students with PMLD.
