Reporting to the Senior freight Trainer / Assessor this role is to Implement, manage and deliver a training and competency assessment regime to integrate ETCS Driver training into Colas Rails current operations, this includes classroom training, Simulator training and practical train handling duties.

Colas Rails ETCS training academy is under construction in Crewe and will act as a base for training, delivery of training will also be undertaken at various sites including practical train handling on the East Coast Mainline.

• Ensure effective systems are in place to manage freight driving competencies.
• Co-ordinate training and re-certification of freight drivers.
• Maintain the staff competency data base.
• Develop training and assessment documentation.
• Deliver mainline driver training as required (Class 66)
• Assist with Technical, Safety & incident investigations as required.
• Analyses, forecast, plan, and monitor the competency management system.
• Lead and participate in industry & company meetings as required.
• Ensure compliance with all company standards and procedures.
• Co-ordinate the installation and implementation of Train Driver simulators
• Construct simulator training packages and scenarios.
• The above does not limit your duties and the Company may require you from time to time to undertake within your capabilities and capacity.
• Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.

• Be a widely experienced railway person with an excellent knowledge of freight operation.
• Be a qualified mainline Freight Train Driver
• Familiarity around the planned introduction of ERTMS.
• Hold Trainer & Assessor Qualifications.
• Be willing to undertake further training as the post dictates.
• Have excellent communication skills and organisational ability.
• Have excellent IT skills. Experience in administration organisation.
• Be prepared to undertake duties predominately in the Crewe area whilst also deliver training nationwide as required (Lodging and travel expenses included)
• Hold UK driving licence.
