Summary of role
The core duties of the role involve preparing and submitting a range of reporting metrics and supporting other actuarial work within the department. It would suit an individual who is looking to broaden their commercial experience within a life insurance setting. Working as part of a small actuarial reporting team, the candidate will take responsibility for several end-to-end processes and communication of results to senior management from an early stage. The candidate will be required to work flexibly across a range of other projects, covering areas such as reporting, data analytics and product development, providing the candidate with a breadth and depth of actuarial experience.
In addition, the candidate will be required to assist in the development of data science applications, such as Python and PowerBI. This may be for the purposes of improving processes or performing analyses of large data sets.
The individual will be committed to completing the IFOA qualification.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Work on the delivery of:
- IFRS 17 results on a quarterly basis
- Solvency II results, including capital requirements, on a quarterly basis
- Business Plan and ORSA on an annual basis
- Supporting the ongoing management of the business in other areas as necessary, e.g. model development, experience investigations, pricing, product development and bonus setting
- Development of efficient reporting processes and strict controls around these processes
- Performing investigations using data science applications and presenting the results in an appropriate way for a range of stakeholders
- Communication of results to senior stakeholders
Skills and experience
- Recent graduate to part qualified student with an eagerness to broaden experience in Life Insurance.
- Keen to progress with actuarial exams.
- Some familiarity with data science software would be beneficial.
- Life insurance experience welcome but not necessary.
- Experience of actuarial modelling software advantageous
- Experience of using data and analytics software, such as R or Python advantageous
