Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Acute Paediatrics and Neurology with a special interest in paediatric epilepsy to join our Acute Paediatric team. Part time working that fits in with the clinical needs of the department would be considered.

Acute and General Paediatricians are at the heart of safe and effective care for children and adolescents. By joining us, you will enhance our Acute Paediatrics team who are dedicated to promoting excellence in acute and ambulatory care for children in the Cambridge region. We aim to ensure that CUHFT is the leading centre for acute and general paediatric training across the eastern region and nationally. 

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will share our enthusiasm for continuous improvement, excellent care and job satisfaction. The rota is 1:10 and covers clinics, acute consultant of the week, weekends and 17:00 - 22:00 Mon-Fri evening shift followed by on-call duties from home.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in General Paediatrics or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

As part of our commitment to supporting the medical workforce in the part they play in delivering an excellent caring service to patients, all newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust. Leadership is a key requirement of doctors’ professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

Working for your organisation

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
