Supply Heroes are looking for an experienced part-time SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a supportive and friendly mainstream primary school in Harborne, Birmingham. The school have supportive staff that are dedicated to helping all students succeed and have a strong focus on student well-being and mental health.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual 1:1 support to a pupil in Year 2, 2 days a week on Mondays and Fridays. You will be supporting the child stay on task and motivate them to stay focused in class as well as supporting them with their learning. Therefore, somebody who has a passion of working in SEN, good adaptability and strong relationship building will thrive in this role. It starts in September 2024 and will be for the full academic year with the potential of increasing in hours as the role goes on.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a degree in Education
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEN
  • A depth of knowledge of the primary school curriculum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive and patient approach
