The Board Officer role
You’ll be joining a high-performing team at City Hall with an excellent reputation. Working to a range of key stakeholder and partnership boards, as well as internal governance groups and processes, the Mayoral Boards team provides a key corporate service within a fast-paced and strategically focussed organisation.
You’ll deal with senior officers, politicians, and board members and support work that you’ll see covered in the media on your way home. The role will include coordinating the formal governance of the Royal Docks Enterprise Zone, home of City Hall, as it develops into one of London’s most exciting new neighbourhoods for business and culture.
We want someone who can see the big picture but maintain their focus on the detail. You need excellent written communication skills. You will be self-motivated and comfortable consistently meet demanding deadlines in a pressurised environment. The ability to liaise confidently and diplomatically with senior staff and politicians is essential.
This job is ‘politically restricted’ under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
This role is based at City Hall, in the Royal Docks (Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE)
Skills, knowledge and experience
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria and competencies:
A proven track record of managing formal meetings involving decision-making processes, ideally in a high-profile or complex organisation.
Experience of interpreting and applying governance best practice.
Planning and organising: thinking ahead, managing time, priorities and risk, and developing structured and efficient approaches to deliver work on time and to a high standard.
Building and managing relationships: developing rapport and working effectively with a diverse range of people, sharing knowledge and skills to deliver shared goals.
Organisational awareness: understanding and being sensitive to organisational dynamics, culture and politics across and beyond the GLA and shaping our approach accordingly.
