Research and Evaluation Officer

Colchester, United Kingdom Coram Full time

We are looking for someone who is passionate about using their research and evaluation skills to join our growing Impact and Evaluation team as a Research and Evaluation Officer to help improve support for vulnerable children and young people, and ultimately make a positive difference in their lives.

About Coram and the team

Coram is the UK’s first and longest continuing children’s charity helping vulnerable children and young people since 1739. Today, Coram helps more than one million children, young people, families and professionals every year. We are soon to launch the Institute for the Future of Children with the ambition of being the UK’s leading centre dedicated to improving the life chances of children.

The Impact and Evaluation team (which currently includes eight permanent researchers) conducts a range of research and evaluation projects for our Coram colleagues, and for external funders to support the improvement of policy and practice for vulnerable children, young people and their families. This includes qualitative and quantitative research, implementation and process evaluations as well as impact studies. The team works in partnership with local authorities, central government and third sector organisations. We strive to include the voice of children and young people in all our work.

As a team we aspire to be child-centred, rigorous, grounded in experience, embedded in practice, collaborative and impactful. We are genuinely committed to encouraging candidates from all sections of the community we seek to support.

About the role

Coram’s Impact & Evaluation Team is seeking an experienced researcher or evaluator to work within our team to deliver research and evaluation projects. We welcome applications from mixed-methods, quantitative and qualitative researchers who have knowledge of a range of research methods and evaluation approaches, including those with skills in participatory research. You will need experience of leading or supporting research or evaluation projects as well as be flexible, well-organised and willing to learn.

The role also comes with a range of personal and professional benefits including dedicated time for continuous professional development, 25 plus days of annual leave, regular team reflective practice sessions and flexible working arrangements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has applied research or evaluation experience and a passion for using these skills to design and deliver high-quality evidence on a wide range of projects which improves policy and practice for vulnerable children, young people and their families.

Coram is an equal opportunities employer and we are very committed to encouraging candidates from all sections of the community. This includes those from global majority groups, those that identify as LGBQT+, those with disabilities, those with lived experience of care, those with neuro-diversity, and those from other groups who are underrepresented in research roles. If applicants feel comfortable, we would encourage them to draw on lived experience in their personal statement as part of their application.

To apply for this role, please click on the 'apply' button above to complete the application.

We will make any reasonable adjustments at the interview stage for applicants invited to interview to support them in their interview.

We are committed to the safeguarding of children and where appropriate will require the successful applicant to undertake a check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

£28,000 to £32,000 per annum (or pro rata)
