Public Health Apprentice

Norwich, United Kingdom Norfolk County Council Remote Work Freelance Full time
Public Health Apprentice Norfolk, United Kingdom   Job Description

Fixed term contract until 31 January 2028 | 37 hours per week | £29,269 to £31,364 per annum (Scale G) | County Hall, Norwich (hybrid working)

Are you passionate about making a real difference to the health of people in Norfolk?  If so, this is an excellent opportunity to start or develop your career in Public Health while earning as you learn.

Joining us as our Public Health Apprentice gives you the opportunity to support delivery of our service to the communities of Norfolk.

We are dedicated to helping residents to live in healthy places, promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing ill-health.  We are focussed on reducing inequalities and in particular supporting underrepresented groups to live healthier lives for longer.

If you’re interested and ambitious about improving the public’s health and reducing inequalities, this may be the apprenticeship for you - even if you haven’t worked in Public Health before.  We’re also an Apprenticeships Top 100 Award Winner 2024, offering paid employment whilst studying for a degree while we do all we can to help you achieve that and further your Public Health career.

Click here to read more out about the experience of our current apprentices.

This apprenticeship enables you to obtain your Practitioner Integrated Degree (Level 6) (subject to entry criteria) through our approved educational provider and no upper age limit applies.  At the end, you will have completed your apprenticeship, obtained a degree and you will be registered as a Public Health Practitioner on the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR).  This will give you a strong foundation to apply for Public Health Officer jobs, delivering projects aligned to either primary prevention, policy or the commissioning of Public Health funded services.

This is a hybrid UK based role, so you must be able to travel within Norfolk and to the educational provider as and when required.

We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups and are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Before you apply, we recommend reading the full Job Description and Person Specification to help you demonstrate you meet the criteria.

These are some benefits you can enjoy by working for Norfolk County Council:

  • Competitive salary
  • Generous holiday entitlement with the ability to buy and sell leave

    • An advance of your expenses if you travel for work
