Science Technician

GSL Education is looking for an experienced Science Technician within a secondary school in the North of Birmingham particularly in Sutton Cofield, West Bromwich and Great Barr area. The school is looking for an experienced and highly capable Science Technician who can join their dedicated and talented science department right away. The role is a part time position from September 2024 on a long term basis.

Please note interviews with the school will be held 27th and 28th August 2024.

5 days a week Monday to Friday (8am 12pm)

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in laboratory work within a secondary school or further/higher education setting. You should demonstrate the ability to prepare materials and equipment for secondary school science classes and control familiarity with CLEAPSS systems and COSHH regulations.

We are seeking a full-time temporary supply candidate for a long-term position, with a minimum commitment of one term. The school will also be holding interviews.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting students within Science classes
  • Taking an active part in laboratory demonstrations
  • Ordering resources and keeping budgets
  • Collaborating with teachers to support their timetables
  • Preparing teaching materials
  • Ensuring the safety of Science equipment in the classroom
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Assisting with displays and demonstrations
  • Reporting any concerns to the appropriate class teacher or science technician lead.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Recent experience as a Science Technician
  • Proficiency in stock control
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children requirements
  • The ability to maintain accurate work records and inventories
  • An updated CV covering the last 10 years.
  • Available immediately to start soon as possible
