You will proactively identify, evaluate, and reduce health and safety risks across the facility. This involves setting health and safety (H&S) goals and initiatives in accordance with Ferrero's global and regional guidelines, as well as leading investigations into H&S incidents—including near misses—to discover root causes and formulate corrective plans. You will keep abreast of the latest H&S regulatory requirements, updating the leadership team accordingly to maintain compliance.

You will contribute to and ensure the local execution of H&S strategic plans that align with Ferrero's broader objectives, offering guidance and support to local management in all H&S-related matters. Establishing effective local emergency response protocols and structures is another critical area of responsibility.

In terms of health and safety risk assessment, you will work closely with representatives from different work centers to regularly conduct, train, and review risk assessments, collaborating with various functions to identify and implement strategies for reduce identified risks. This effort aims to prevent injuries and adverse health impacts among employees, with progress on mitigation activities monitored and reported regularly.

Policy development and procedural oversight form a core part of your duties. You will develop local H&S policies, procedures, and work instructions that reflect Ferrero's global policies, ensuring workplace adherence through regular inspections.

Driving and aiding the local rollout of H&S projects and programs is also within your purview. Training and raising awareness among on-site staff about H&S issues, including legal compliance and managerial accountability for safety, are crucial tasks. You will also provide H&S input into site changes, collaborate with technical procurement to include H&S criteria in contractor selection, and ensure preventive maintenance for safety-related equipment.

External responsibilities are equally as important and include maintaining relations with public health and safety authorities, acting as a local contact for government officials, and ensuring all legal H&S requirements are met. This involves managing licenses, notifications, and statutory equipment inspections. Reporting on site H&S performance, corrective and preventive actions, and participating in Ferrero's regional and global H&S meetings to share updates and best practices are key aspects of your role.

Finally, managing on-site medical staff or liaising with external medical services to address accidents, work environment issues, and ergonomics, along with developing and implementing wellbeing initiatives, underscores Ferrero's commitment to the holistic health and safety of its employees.

Experience in conducting internal audits and interacting with external regulatory bodies would be advantageous.

Your analytical skills should be sharp, capable of dissecting complex issues to uncover underlying causes. You’ll need to be comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a diverse team, driving continuous improvement as a core aspect of your daily activities.
