Role Purpose:

The Senior Finance Business Intelligence Analyst supports the Senior Finance BI Managers and wider Finance team and their customers in the provision of effective management accounting, maintaining the aggregated financial records and influencing cost management decisions through the provision of commercial and financial expertise and ensuring compliance with the organisation-wide governance framework.

The Senior Finance Business Intelligence Analyst will work with stakeholders in other teams within Finance to ensure that the integrity of all accounting records are maintained and accurate and deliver excellent analytics. They will identify and build compelling proposals to maximise business performance, and provide the right information to help business partners and budget holders make good decisions about costs, resources and capital. They will also support finance leads in the delivery of robust planning, budgeting and reporting processes consistently across Police Scotland.

The Senior Finance BI Analyst will be required to undertake tasks across the BI function as directed by the Senior Finance BI Manager. The Senior Finance BI Analyst will also be required to direct and manage tasks undertaken by the Finance BI Analysts across the BI function.

Education, Qualification, Skills and Experience:

Attainments (Essential)
Experience in cost management and business analysis in a large, complex organisation.Experience of financial reporting, planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.Good interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation and report writing.Advanced IT skills and knowledge of business systems such as excel, word, E-financials, BOXI.
Attainments (Desirable)
Public sector experience.Experience in the development and monitoring of savings and efficiency plans.Experience of delivering high quality results and being able to manage competing priorities in an effective and resilient manner.
Educational/Occupational (Essential)
Fully qualified Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB) Accountant or equivalent through significant experience in a similar finance environment.
Personal Qualities (Essential)
Ability to quickly build effective working relationships with key stakeholders within finance.Confidence and credibility in dealing with senior stakeholders.Confident adopting a pro-active solutions driven approach.
Special Aptitudes (Essential)
Strong analytical skills.Financial systems literate.Advanced knowledge of Excel/PowerPoint.Strong knowledge of data protection requirements, and experience in professionally handling confidential information.Strong attention to detail.Enthusiastic and professional.Personal responsibility and ownership for the delivery of the highest quality and impactful outputs.Commitment to continuous improvement, both within the service and in relation to personal development.Resilient and adaptable.Commitment / ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
